Michelle Singletary: Balancing Finance and Romance

Michelle Singletary is a nationally syndicated, award winning columnist for The Washington Post. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park and Johns Hopkins University and has a Master’s degree in business and management.

Her column, entitled “The Color of Money,” runs in over 100 newspapers and focuses on personal finance issues and advice. The column has won multiple awards, including being nominated for a Pulitzer, receiving an award from the Society of American Business Editors and being named Best in Business.

Singletary has written three books that have been published by Zondervan and Random House. They are “Spend well, Live Rich: How to Live Well With the Money You Have,” “Your Money and Your Man: How You and Prince Charming Can Spend Well and Live Rich,” and “The Power to Prosper: 21 Days to Financial Freedom.” Her book “Your Money and Your Man” was a 2006 finalist for “Books for a Better Life,” with judges calling her writing, “both approachable and explanatory.”

Singletary’s writing also appears in O Magazine. She has also assisted with Oprah’s “Make Me a Ten!” makeover series by helping a single mother who lost her job get her finances in order and take significant steps towards financial freedom.
